Welcome to the show…
In Reply To is designed as a platform to bring together some of the best minds on Twitter to discuss a range of topics – anything from technology to politics, from entertainment to religion.
The idea came from watching recent discussions on the Australian Government’s plans to introduce a mandatory internet filter. Twitter peeps like JJProjects, Stilgherrian, NickHodge and Hortovanyi were discussing the implications of the policy and it occured to me that if you were to set a topic and collect the conversation from selected Twitter users you would end up with a pretty interesting show.
Styled in the same way to a round table podcas, each episode focusing on a particular topic and including a rotating list of experts. By experts we mean the people who lead the discussion on Twitter, not necessarily those who amass the most Followers or are ‘professional bloggers’.
In Reply To will be produced through Twitter, using either Twitter Search, or a similar service, to track selected participants during a designated time period with a host leading the discussion and adding comments/questions from people following the show live.
Naturally the show will be presented in text instead of audio, with comments forced to keep under 140 characters. The idea is that the brevity, ability to imbed links and for participants to participate through a range of devices from anywhere in the world will lend the show a unique structure.
Archived shows will be available on the site, through RSS and, if there is interest, podcast using a similar method to Slate’s where the text is added as the discriptive text to a small, blank audio file and uploaded to iTunes.
These are obviously early days and any feedback you have is most welcome and can be left in the comments below or emailed to Warlach@InReplyTo.com.
Cheers, and stay tuned!
